We're looking for a motivated, skilled, and experience professional to take on the role of Urban Forest Supervisor. This position will play a direct role in the activities of the Urban Forest Division, including the Heritage and Street Tree programs, and the implementation of a new Urban Forest Plan. This position receives direction from the Urban Forest Manager and exercises supervision over other assigned division staff. * Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license.
* Three years of increasingly responsible experience in tree maintenance activities, including two years of lead supervision responsibility.
* Possession of an associate's degree in arboriculture or a related field of study is highly desirable.
Bonus Points:
* Possession of a certified arborist certification.
* Possession of an associate's degree in arboriculture or a related field.
What You'll Do
Utilize your experience in arboriculture to inform recommendations on improvements and modifications to existing operations
Help realize the vision of the division by implementing new projects
Directly supervise assigned staff, provide feedback on their work and ensure a high standard of work is met
Participate in the administration of the division by preparing reports, assisting in budget preparation and
administration, and monitoring expenditures
Play a key role in the selection of staff and the continuing training of staff
Provide feedback to staff through performance evaluations, help develop skills of staff for their professional growth
Utilize a customer-service centric approach when educating the public and answering inquiries
See a direct and measurable result of your work by coordinating tree-trimming and tree planting activities Enforce tree ordinance standards
